On Thursday, January 14th, Fox Business Network hosted the 1st Republican Presidential Debate of 2016 and the 6th overall for the GOP. The seven frontrunners took the stage to compete for the upcoming nomination, but two candidates clearly dominated in the polls, and in social media buzz. Watch this clip of the first exchange between Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz.
After previously stating that it wasn’t an issue, the Trump campaign recently called into question Cruz’s eligibility to become President as their national poll numbers have gotten closer. Who do you think one? Is Cruz’s birthplace an issue or is this a distraction from more substantive issues?
Chris Fox is a Project Specialist at USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy. Prior to that, he was a research fellow at the DHS Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE), where his focus was on homegrown violent extremism. He has an MPA from the University of Southern California and a BA in Psychology from American Military University. Chris served for seven years in the Air Force as a TACP at the 7th ASOS and 21st STS. He is a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and continues to serve as a JTAC Instructor in the Texas Air National Guard.
